Review Samsung 3D HDTV Plasma and LED 1080p 240hz C7000 and C8000 Series

Samsung - Leaders in 3D TV Technology
Samsung are definitely ahead of the game when it comes to 3D Ready HDTV. Having had the time to perfect their 3D technology over the last 3 years on previous models of 3D Ready TV such as the HLT DLP series, Samsung's 2010 models of 3D Ready HDTV, including the C7000 and C8000 series, have come a long way since the early days. They encompass some fantastic features such as internet connectivity; a choice of Plasma or LED; 1080p resolution and mega fast refresh rates of 240hz.
Unlike the old style Samsung 3D TV's, which required a PC hookup and TriDef software there is no need to run your 2010 model of Samsung 3D TV through a PC, which saves a great deal of potential complications (and miles of HDMI cabling!). Previous versions of Samsung 3D Ready TV's did require you to install the 3D rendering software on your PC and then connect it up to your TV, but we can all breathe a sign of relief that having a Samsung 3D HDTV has become A LOT easier and user friendly. You don't need to be a tech geek to start enjoying 3D TV right now.
All you need is a Samsung 3D Ready TV, Samsung Starter Kit and a Samsung 3D Blu Ray player and you can quickly and easily fly off into the third dimension. With this kit, you'll be able to watch the new variety of stereoscopic 3D movies and all the 3D television broadcasts that are arriving in our living rooms this year.
*WARNING* Whatever you do, DO NOT buy one of Samsung's old DLP 3D TV's models. Yes, these older models are pretty cheap to buy, but unfortunately they are completely unsupported in terms of other 3D equipment.
Samsung 3D TV Specifications
Samsung's 3D HDTV's are available in ultra slim, flat panel, Plasma or LED, so it's really up to your own preference as to which format you choose. The specifications on both formats are almost equal - all Samung's 3D TV's are 1080p Full HD, but Samsung's 3D Ready plasma TV's are slightly cheaper and beacuse they are plasma the blacks are richer and have more depth, so your choice of LED or plasma may come down to your budget rather than image quality. But in reality either the 3D LED or Plasma TV's are amazing value for all the technology that's inside them.
Both the LED and Plasma 3D Ready HDTV's use Samsung's 3D HyperReal engine which will bring to life all of your 3D media in amazing detail, stunning clarity, realistic color and completely blur free motion. On top of this, Samsung 3D TV's also utilize Ultra Clear Panel technology, Wide Color Enhancer and Mega Dynamic Contrast Ratio to ensure that every image is totally life-like.
As well as unparalleled picture quality, Samsung 3D TV's benefit from plenty of HDMI connection ports (x4), advanced internet connectivity, home networking capability through the DNLA standard, PC input and USB inputs. Samsung's 3D LED models also have Skype connectivity.
Samsung have also taken the very wise step of ensuring that the emitter needed to send the 3D images to the active shutter glasses is integral to the TV, which again means fewer pieces of equipment and less cabling. It really is a superb system.
"Your mind won't believe your eyes. That's how breathtakingly stunning the picture quality you get with Samsung's 3D HyperReal engine is. Enabled by Super 3D Realisation, the picture is as unrivalled as it is unbelievable. This way, you're never just watching a movie, you're living it. Every moment will ring truer, go deeper, feel stronger, look richer. Hard to believe when you're on your couch."

More on 3D Products and Capabilities
You have done a great job there and thank you for so much informtion.
Thanks Sandy and Hello, hello - Samsung's 3D TV's are certainly a great product.
I have a an older model Samsung HLT5076s that is 3D ready and a PS3 with firmware update 3.5 and I get conflicting information everywhere I look as to whether 3D gaming will work on my TV. I was hoping you could help clarify some things for me. First if I get the Mitsubishi 3-DA1 adapter and a pair of Xpand 102, will I be able to play 3D games? And secondly I am not a big fan of Xpand aesthetics, are there another pair of glasses that will work with the Mitsubishi 3-DA1?
Apparently Mitsubishi have said their adapter will not work with any of Samsung's 3D TV's (have even designed it to be that way), not even the old DLP ones, but as there is so much contradictory info around your best bet is to contact mitsubishi directly.
Here's some info from Samsung: http://ars.samsung.com/customer/usa/jsp/faqs/faqs_
And this thread on the playstation forum is worth reading all the way through (lots of useful links): http://boardsus.playstation.com/t5/PlayStation-3-G
From what I've read RealD have created adpaters (Pods) that will convert various 3D formats to checkerboard. They are pricey at $500, but it might be something you want to consider. Otherwise it looks as though your TV is going to be pretty much useless for 3D PS3 gaming unless someone makes a cheaper adapter.
"The 3D Plasma models also have Skype connectivity." - I'd love to see some sources on this - http://www.samsung.com/us/pdf/apps-and-product-tab says Skype is only available on the 7000/8000 LED TV's. - Sure hope you aren't just throwing out false facts.
Thanks Andrew for bringing that typo to my attention. And no, I don't throw out false facts. If you want to check my Mitsubishi 3d TV article you'll find comments from people who couldn't find the *correct* information anywhere else.
